Forget the dazzle: just don't miss Sarah Jones as she performs her own material dealing with the melting pot of New York in the playlet "Bridge & Tunnel." The great-looking Jones can do any accent, any persona, and her aggregate of amateur poets is one of the funniest, most creative and delightful outings I've seen in ages. I left this show feeling so upbeat. The thing I loved best about her portrayal of our newest wave of immigrants is how "innocent" most of them seem. This is great theater! Seeming to agree with me opening night were Meryl herself, Sean Combs, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei, Rosie Perez, Chad Lowe, Bob Balaban, Annabella Sciorra, Terrence McNally, Tony Kushner, John Guare, Wendy Wasserstein and people like that. Sarah Jessica Parker, fresh from taping "The Late Show With David Letterman," was on the arm of her super agent, Kevin Huvane. Everybody partied afterward at the swank new Maritime Hotel.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO to Joe Alien to see the stars. Recently at Sarah Jones' Off-Broadway hit, "Bridge & Tunnel," were Oscar winners Al Pacino and Dianne Wiest, along with former Texas Gov. Ann Richards, artist Julian Schnabel and former "ER" doc Anthony Edwards. You know, Ms. Jones has reached star power because she just signed with Hollywood power agent Creative Artists Agency.
